It is easy to forget how essential brakes are to the functionality of your car as well as how important they are in helping keep you safe. In order to keep your car performing at its best, you should know the warning signs of when you need new brakes so as to address the issue and resolve it. Here is a list of warning signs that we at Jack Miller Parts think you should know about.
Brake light comes on
This is probably the most apparent indicator that there is something wrong with your brakes. When this warning light comes on, seek out professional service as soon as possible.
Brakes aren’t as responsive as they once were
If your brake pedal does not seem as responsive and you have to push it to the floor, this could mean that there is a leak in your brake fluid lines. If you notice that your breaks have lost some responsiveness, or if you notice something dripping beneath the car, you will want to have your brakes checked.
Vibrating brake pedal
If your brake pedal is pulsating when you are driving normally, it may mean that there is something wrong with your brake rotors. They could be warped or have something else wrong with them, so you definitely will want to get them checked out.
Worn brake pads
If you notice that you are no longer able to stop as effectively and smoothly as you once could, it might be that your brake pads have worn down. If you also hear a squealing noise, this is probably the case. There is a way to check this yourself: look through the spokes of your wheel to see the rotor and caliper, between which is the brake pad. It should be at least ¼ inch thick. If they are not, they need to be replaced. You can also come into the dealership if you would like and we will take a look for you.
At Jack Miller Parts, we want to make sure your brakes are in great shape and working order. If you think you have a problem, don’t hesitate to come into the dealership. We will check them for you and order new ones if needs be.
